How to be Au Natural in the Great Outdoors
Summertime for me means a lot of camping but just because I'm playing off my inner Daniel Boone it doesn't mean I want to look like him.
No matter where I am I stay true to my skin regimen.
- washing my face twice a day (am/pm)
- following with moisturizer **Daytime moisturizer must have SPF!! this is very important especially when spending your time outdoors, unless you want to grow up looking like an old leather bag then SPF should be a must.**
My personal favorite skin care line is Clinique's 3 step system.
I am also a big fan of St.Ives face moisturizer (and you can't go wrong with the price!)
Those are my two steps that I never stray from to keep my skin healthy and glowing. If you are like me and don't tan (again... keep the leather bag lady at bay) then a moisturizer with some shimmer or 'touch of sun' is always a nice way to keep from looking washed out.
I don't like to advise wearing a lot of make up in the summer months and even less when it comes to camping.
If you must wear something stick to a sheer coverage foundation or better yet a tinted moisturizer. I love Clinique's Almost Makeup (BONUS - it has SPF!)
And in my mind you can never go wrong with some mascara, wherever you may be. I like Maybelline Volume Express Waterproof mascara in black.
Aside from some lip balm (also with an SPF) that is what my beauty arsenal consists of when I'm enjoying the wilderness. You want to stick with a no fuss, no muss routine. Get up and go!
Good things always come to an end, your weekend... your holiday whatever it may be, you are now at home and perhaps feeling a tad grungy from all that smoke in your face and lack of a proper shower! Don't fret, you can de-gunk, un-clog and re-fresh yourself fabulous:
1. Follow your typical face-wash & toner routine
2. And one of the following
Apply a face mask (My top picks are Aveda Clay Mask & LUSH Mask of Magnaminty)
OR you can use a great exfoliator (I can't live without LUSH Angels on Bare Skin - it won't dry out your skin)
3. And lastly of course... moisturize!
You should now feel sqeaky clean and fabulous! Welcome Home ;)
